Origin of RheoFit

Dear friends,

Many of our customers and partners often ask us: “Why is your brand called RheoFit?”
To deepen our connection and understanding, I would like to take a moment to share the history of the name and the essence of our brand. To truly understand the meaning of RheoFit, we need to look at the origins of the brand and the value we strive to create for our users.

1. Beginning

As the founder of RheoFit, you may wonder what inspired me to embark on this journey.
It all started when a friend of mine, who was almost 50 and worked as a director at Texas Instruments, encouraged me to train for a marathon. I wanted to achieve the same level of energy, mental acuity, and productivity that he maintained at his age. However, during my marathon training, I faced significant obstacles—dormant muscle soreness (DOMS), lactic acid buildup, and sports injuries. These challenges hindered my progress and made it difficult to achieve my goal of a healthy lifestyle.
To overcome these obstacles, I decided to create a product that would make it easier to relax muscles after a workout.

2. The value we create for our users

During product development, I learned that the RheoFit A1 resonates with a diverse group of users, all with different fitness interests—some are marathon runners, some are triathletes, others enjoy aerobic dancing, strength training, or simply need to unwind after a long day at work.

What they all have in common is that their musculoskeletal system is under strain, and the fatigue they accumulate needs to be relieved. However, visiting a physiotherapist or massage parlor is expensive and time-consuming, while self-massage can be tiring and difficult to perform correctly.

As I continued to ask myself why these people were pushing their limits, I realized that many of them were increasing their activity levels in search of a breakthrough. They weren’t just sticking to a routine—they were challenging their bodies to reach new physical and mental states. I spoke to some of these users and asked them why they were increasing the intensity of their workouts. Here’s what they shared with me:

  • A man in his 60s said, "My granddaughter is only 5 years old, and recently, when I was playing with her, I noticed that I wasn't as agile as I used to be. I want to practice more to keep up with her, not just sit in a wheelchair and watch her smile."
  • The young woman shared: “When I was younger, I always felt unattractive, especially when I saw fit girls on social media. But then I started running, and gradually I not only lost weight, but also became more fit. After each run, I feel stronger. Now I like the reflection I see in the mirror, and I am more confident around others.”
  • A manager at a corporation told me, "I love my job and want to succeed in it, but lately the workload has become unbearable. Physical exercise helps me cope with anxiety and gives me the energy to solve difficult problems."
  • Their answers touched me deeply. I realized that these people share a common desire: a desire for a better life. It is this hope that motivates them to leave their desks, couches, or beds and head to the treadmill, the gym, or the playing field. They strive to develop both physically and mentally, which often means increasing the intensity of their workouts. This, of course, leads to muscle soreness or even injury.

3. Brand mission

As I reflected on the needs and aspirations of our customers, I felt I had found the mission of RheoFit: to help users achieve a healthier body so they can realize their vision of a better life. Our mission is simple: Infinite body, infinite life.

To achieve this, my team and I, with our experience and passion for robotics and artificial intelligence, aim to integrate cutting-edge technology with rehabilitation science. Together with our partner, Dr. Hong, we aim to provide a personalized, intelligent recovery experience, similar to having your own private rehabilitation specialist.

4. Why “RheoFit”?

The name “RheoFit” comes from the Greek root “rheo-,” meaning “to flow” or “to move.” This term is often used in scientific fields, especially fluid mechanics, to describe the motion and deformation of materials under stress (e.g., in rheology, the study of flow properties).

I felt like this word really captured the spirit of our brand—just like fluids that are constantly moving, our bodies are in a state of constant change and adaptation as we push them. Our team’s research focuses on this very process of dynamic change, but instead of fluids, we’re focusing on the human body.

To emphasize our focus on health, we combined “Rheo” with “Fit,” reflecting the connection between movement and fitness. Thus, RheoFit was born.

5. The history of our logo

Interestingly, the RheoFit logo is inspired by the ancient Chinese character for “cloud” on an oracle bone. We found that clouds are a great symbol for the spirit of our brand. At first glance, clouds may seem stationary, but in reality they are constantly moving and evolving. They exude a soft, carefree appearance, embodying immense strength. This reflects both our brand philosophy and the inner strength of our customers.

Given our focus on technology, we combined the cloud symbol with a hexagon, symbolizing technology and efficiency, to create our current logo.

6. Summary

This is the story of how the RheoFit brand name, philosophy, and logo were created. At its core, the RheoFit team is committed to using smart technology and rehabilitation science to help our clients achieve their vision of a healthier, more fulfilling life—one where the body is limitless and life knows no boundaries.
